This cover introduces the research on a positive correlation between binding energy of OH* and magnetic moment of three nitrides. Among them, Ni3N with the small magnetic moment and weak adsorption to OH*, shows the best electrocatalytic activity toward the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in the alkaline, which is attributed to lower water-dissociation barrier and faster release of OH*. This work provides new insights into the design of advanced electrocatalysts using magnetic matrix toward HER in the alkaline.
